Get the 411 on 441

We've pulled together some Frequently Asked Questions about our new space at 441 Baker Street in Nelson - so you can be better clued in than anyone else.

Q: Is it a bigger space?
A: Heck yeah. The new space will be more than twice the size!

Q: Where is 441 Baker Street exactly?
A: Halfway between CIBC and RBC, with Ted Allen's Jewellery beside us. And no, we're not planning to build a tunnel (although...).

Q: What was it before?
A: Most recently Moon Monster, prior to that Sacred Journey. This was Craft Connection's first gallery space.

Q: Why the big move?
A: We've been growing steadily each year, and have simply outgrown this little cottage. Also our lease was up for renewal in June, so we felt the timing was perfect.

Q: How old is the new space?

A: The building originates to 1904. It is listed as one of Nelson's finest Heritage Buildings, known as the Standard Furniture Store after the furniture store which originally owned it. The High Victorian facade features some very elaborate decorative brick work, made with locally fired brick, topped with an impressive double dentiled cornice.

Q. What can I do for parking at the new location?

A. There will be a small designated spot to the rear of the building for any consignors who have a scheduled appointment. Booked consignors can occupy this free spot for up to 45 mins at their booked time. There will be a bell for any consignors looking to come in via our back door.

For customers and consignors without reservations, there is metered street parking nearby on Baker Street and side streets, and the Nelson Parkade is directly behind our store on Vernon Street. The parkade has an exit directly behind the store in the alleyway.

Q. What will be some of the features in this new space?

A. In addition to having much more room to display product, there will be a central fenced-in play area that will allow kids to play safely while parents shop; purpose built change rooms, a separate consignment intake desk, dedicated nursing nook and a customer washroom with change facilities. The space has great natural light and tall ceilings and will have new flooring throughout. It's all on one level making for an easier shopping experience, and is therefore better suited to anyone with mobility issues; parents with strollers or small children.

Q: Still taking in consignment?
A: Absolutely. We expect this to be a busier location and there will be room to get out more items... which (in theory) should sell even faster. We anticipate needing even more great things to meet the demand!
