CHILDREN'S BOOKS

Quality gently-used books for babies and pre-teen children.

One of the most enjoyable aspects our store is our constantly changing selection of children's books. These vary from the extremely basic board books that set infants on their first path to learning; right through to gorgeously illustrated hardcover collectables, that will hopefully be cherished by your children (and potentially passed on to their kids).

While the library is an amazing resource for temporary borrowing, children can grow very attached to some books. It makes sense therefore, that having some books they can own and refer to time-and-time-again, is important. Research studies* have shown that children from homes with many books have faired much better academically (irrespective of their parents educational background). By offering books at a fraction of their retail price we hope all parents can afford children this opportunity, even when on a tight budget.

At Play It Again Kids we insist that the books we sell are in great shape, with very little wear, and free from scribbles, rips and missing pages! And yes... we do try to check each and every page when we're putting out books!

Some books we sell may be personalized with heartfelt inscriptions, but we consider this not as damage, but as adding character to the book's personal story. Our prices are always very fair - usually based at around 50% or less of the books' current retail value (though this can vary slightly based on condition, demand and availability).  For example, we sell most paperback novels for about $2.50 - vs. about $5.95 to $7.95 original retail.

A greener way to buy books

Did you know buying your kid's books from us is a very green option? What better way to teach your child the values of recycling, helping the environment and basic economics, than getting them to consign the books they've outgrown and use their credits to get toys, clothing, books or movies they want?

This is also a wonderful way to ensure that the written word lives on and is fully enjoyed by another deserving child in your community.

Most books that are not passed on to others end up in the garbage, so by purchasing gently-used books you are effectively recycling, and preserving the books' life and value. To learn more about how consignment helps our environment click here.
